This very interesting piece was brought to Carol in extremely damaged condition. The photograph, taken in the 1940s, was glued to a carved wooden "bust" form & attached to the carved circular frame which can be either hung on a wall or set on a table.Thankfully this family had other photos of their pretty mother. Carol was able to see the features, imagine them at a different angle, and hand-paint them on the old photograph. This is the type of restoration work that could only be accomplished by an artist with a skilled eye and desire to give her clients the very best she has to offer. The family was thrilled at what Carol accomplished with their heirloom picture.
The main limitations in restoration work are the condition of the material on which the image is produced & lack of reference material.
The photo, below, was taken after the photo repair. It shows off the lovely unusual frame of this 1940's image.
